The maintenance of this course is appauling. I realize it is a municpal course, but this was a basic nightmare. I was therefore surprised by its difficulty, particularly in how tight the fairways were. The straight ball is key here. Greens are utterly unpredictable due to the shape of the grass; fairways are in similar condition. Roughs are simply unattended. Find a different course before playing here.

Great old southern municipal course

Old timey feel down fairway #1. Hole 2 is one of the hardest short par threes I've ever played. Green slopes down to water, hard to chip on and make it stick. Hole 3 is a great par 5 dogleg left and protected by traps left and right. Holes 4 & 5 are nothing to write home about, just let the big dog eat. Hole 6 is #1 handicap so carefully aim right fairway on tee shot and don't overdrive into canal. A nice six iron and you're on in two. Hole 7 is a fun par 3. Just take dead aim at front of green. Hole 8 is a short par 4, not too difficult. Hole nine is a great par 5 finishing hole. Lots of big pines and holley bushes. Feels a little bit like a minature Agustua, southern pines and all, slightly rolling terrain....nice course, great local staff.

Local Jewel

Dogwood Hills began as the old Country Club of Brewton. It is a great little course with plenty of difficulty and opportunities to work on your game. With some maintenance imporvements and consideration of adding 9 more holes it could put the newly built Country Club to shame in terms of performance. If you don't have time to play 18, play 9 and have lunch...you won't find better food anywhere in Brewton!
