The PGA Tour returns to action with a brand new event this week, dubbed the Workday Charity Open, at Dublin, Ohio’s storied Muirfield Village Golf Club. Beginning on July 9, the tournament will replace the cancelled John Deere Classic and feature a $6.2 million purse. The field looks to be strong as Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas, and Brooks Koepka--all currently ranked in the top-5 in the OWGR--are set to tee off with Jordan Spieth, Patrick Cantlay, Patrick Reed and more.
Muirfield Village Golf Club
Legendary Golfer Jack Nicklaus founded the planned community of Muirfield and the famous Muirfield Village Golf Club. The course has hosted a Ryder and a Presidents Cup, as well as a Solheim Cup and U.S. Amateur. Muirfield Village is best known for hosting the Memorial Tournament since 1976, an invitational event started by Nicklaus himself. The course is known for its challenge, with strategic golf and especially accuracy off the tee the keys to winning the event.
The event is being covered by Golf Channel and CBS, beginning with coverage on Golf Channel, 3-6pm ET on Thursday and Friday. Saturday and Sunday coverage are split between the two channels, with coverage appearing 1-3pm ET on Golf Channel before continuing on CBS from 3-6pm ET. The event is also streaming online on PGA Tour Live with coverage of featured groups and holes every day of the event. Radio coverage is provided by PGA Tour Radio on SiriusXM satellite radio and streaming online.
