2019 Houston Open: Spectator Information

The 2019 Houston Open returns to the PGA Tour with its new fall date this Thursday, October 10, at the Golf Club of Houston. The tournament will see a strong field including early winners Cameron Champ and Sebastián Muñoz as well as major-winner Henrik Stenson. The tournament is slated to play at the Golf Club of Houston for its 13th and final time before moving to the Memorial Park Golf Course in 2020.

Tournament History

The tournament dates back to 1946 with the first tournament hosted by River Oaks Country Club. The tournament was best known in recent years as the penultimate event before the Masters. It held this spot from 2007-2018 and provided high drama as experienced golfers used the event as a tune-up while hopefuls tried their best to grab the last ticket to the Masters guaranteed to the winner. With the reshuffling of the PGA Tour schedule, the event sat out the 2019 PGA Tour before unveiling its new fall slot for the 2019-2020 season. The tournament has many notable former champions, including inaugural champion Byron Nelson (runner-up Ben Hogan wasn’t a slouch either), Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Payne Stuart and Phil Mickelson. Vijay Singh and Curtis Strange have recorded the most wins with 3 apiece. The reigning champion is Ian Poulter.
