The 2019 Zurich Classic kicks off this Thursday, April 25, before wrapping up Sunday, April 28 at the TPC Louisiana golf course just outside New Orleans. The only official team event on the PGA Tour, the Zurich Classic pits 80 teams of 2 competing in rounds of fourball and foursomes to claim the title. The field includes the teams of Brooks Koepka playing with younger brother Chase, defending champions Billy Horschel and Scott Piercy, and Ryder Cup standouts Sergio Garcia and Tommy Fleetwood. The tournament also sees a father/son team with hall of famer and former champion Davis Love III looking to turn back the years with son Dru.

Tournament History

The tournament was first held in 1938 as the Crescent City Open and was played sporadically until becoming an annual event in 1958. The tournament was a stroke play singles tournament from its founding until 2017 and played at various New Orleans courses. This period saw numerous legendary winners, including 2-time winners Byron Nelson and Tom Watson, as well as Jack Nicklaus, Lee Trevino, Bubba Watson and Justin Rose. Since the transition to a team event, past champions include the teams of Jonas Blixt and Cameron Smith along with Billy Horschel and Scott Piercy.
