The 2019 AT&T Pebble Beach had a surprise finish after weather delays forced the final pairing of Phil Mickelson and Paul Casey to finish on Monday. With just 2 holes remaining, the pair chose to finish in the morning due to fading light. Mickelson had started the 4th round a full 3 strokes behind his playing partner, but by the time the round was suspended he had a commanding lead. Mickelson showed a veteran’s steady hand to shoot a remarkable 65 to claim the title by 3 strokes. This was Mickelson’s 5th Pebble Beach Pro-Am win, tying the record held Mark O’Meara. The win was also Mickelson’s 44th overall PGA Tour win, showing “Lefty’s” high standard of play over the last 28 years. Mickelson, 48, is showing that despite his advancing years he is still at the top of his game and has already shown this year just how good his game is.

Mickelson's Year?

Mickelson has yet to win a U.S. Open, and many are already speculating what this win means for his chances this year. The 2019 U.S. Open will also be hosted by Pebble Beach Golf Links, though the course will be altered by the USGA before that tournament kicks off in June. Mickelson has himself played down the significance of his impressive Pebble Beach record, but many will be feeling that this just might be his year.

Pro-Am Team Winners

In addition to the professional competition, the annual Pro-Am team competition was won by the team of professional Paul Casey and amateur Don Colleran. Colleran is the Chief Sales Officer and an executive vice-president at FedEx. They won by 2 shots over the team of professional Wyndham Clark and Rascal Flatt’s lead guitarist Joe Don Rooney.
