Titleist 755 Forged Irons Review

By S. Courtney

Titleist 755 forged irons combine the playability of the 700 series with newer technology for improved consistency and performance. The irons are precision-milled from stainless steel and feature a deep cavity and thinner face for better feel. Heel-toe weighting of the 755 irons is designed for greater power and more forgiveness with mishits. An aluminum damper insert helps control vibration for more solid contact, and dual hosel-lengths improve control. The irons are available with either steel or graphite shafts, and Titleist Tour Velvet stock grips come standard.

Titleist 755 irons are easy to adjust to, even with their unique feel and deep cavity design. The thin faces are remarkably solid on impact and help with the overall workability of the club. High launch angles with the long irons can help you avoid hazards, and the shorter irons provide substantial spin on approach shots. The stock shafts provide a good blend of flexibility and balance.

Usually listed at more than $600, new sets are very expensive. Many players complain that the aluminum inserts decrease sensitivity too much and make even off-center hits feel overly solid. This can be a huge drawback to players who rely heavily on feel and can be a bit confusing for beginners.

Bottom Line

Titleist 755 irons are best suited for players looking for more forgiveness and solid impact. Beginning players and golfers accustomed to a softer, more natural feel might be more comfortable with a more traditional design that provides better feel and feedback.
