How Custom Golf Clubs Can Help Improve Your Game

By Marc Jenkins

Every golfer, whether he's an average Joe or a PGA player, always wants to improve his game. One of the most notable tools for improvement is a set of custom or fitted golf clubs. There are many advantages to using a set of golf clubs that have been constructed just for you, with your body size, swing tendencies and game style all in mind.

Lower Scores

Golfers with custom clubs consistently stroke the ball further, straighter and with better direction and trajectory. Because the clubs are made specifically for them, golfers do not have to alter their stroke as much to overcompensate on certain shots. But when shot adjustments are needed, they are easier to make with custom clubs. All of these factors give players a better score at the end of the day.

Mental Advantage

Because custom clubs can improve a golfer's game, they also improve his confidence. The technical improvement combined with the ego boost can help golfers reach levels that were unthinkable with other clubs. Players who are doing well feel less intimidated by the course and their opponents. Fewer unwanted results mean less frustration. Their mental focus can be on the next hole instead of the last mistake.

Golfers often think custom clubs are expensive and that there is a long process to obtain a set. These misconceptions prevent many golfers from purchasing a set. But custom golf clubs are generally less expensive than high-end clubs. Getting fitted for the clubs requires a series of tests and interviews about the golfer and his game, usually lasting no more than a couple of hours.
