Rory McIlroy wins the first World Golf Championship event of the new PGA Tour after beating Xander Schauffele in a playoff for the WGC-HSBC Champions in Shanghai. The win was just McIlroy’s 2nd start of the year since winning the Tour Championship, and follows a T3 finish at last week’s ZOZO Championship. With a total purse of $10.25 million, the event is one of the most lucrative tournaments in the world. The following is the final leaderboard and payout for each position.
