Geoff Ogilvy Career Highlights

Geoff Ogilvy played his youth golf in Australia and won consistently from 1995 to 1997. In May of 1998, Ogilvy turned professional and earned his European Tour card for the 1999 season. After two seasons of playing in Europe, Ogilvy made the jump to the PGA Tour in 2001, where he had five consecutive seasons in the top-100 ranking.

It took until 2005 for Ogilvy to earn his first professional win and it came at the Chrysler Classic of Tucson. Ogilvy won the event in a playoff over Mark Calcavecchia and Kevin Na. One year months later, he won his second professional event at the 2006 WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship where he defeated Davis Love III 3 and 2 in the championship match.

2006 proved to be a monumental year for Ogilvy as he won his first (and only thus far) major championship in the U.S. Open. His chip-in on the 17th hole and an incredible par on the 18th sealed his win at Winged Foot which would be dubbed, “The Wonder from Down Under.” Finishing one stroke behind Ogilvy were Jim Furyk, Colin Montgomerie, and Phil Mickelson who infamously double-bogeyed the final hole.

From 2008 to 2014, Ogilvy won five more events on the PGA Tour including the 2008 WGC-CA Championship and the 2009 WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship. His successes in WGC events have earned Ogilvy the distinction as one of the best match-play competitors of all-time.

Geoff Ogilvy has been a part of three International Presidents Cup teams (2007, 2009, 2011). His career earnings total $30,453,426. Geoff Ogilvy has turned his attention to golf course design in recent years, starting OCM Golf with Mike Cocking and Ashley Mead. The trio is behind designs and renovations from Australia to China as well as projects in the U.S. including Shady Oaks Country Club and Medinah Country Club.
