Video Golf Tip | Club Fitting Is Critical
By Ed Ibarguen

I will never forget the first time I got a brand new set of clubs. I was so proud as a kid I had these beautiful club, I did not know what the shaft was, the grip was standard, the lie was standard, but I had the greatest time. It was many, many years later that I began to realize that just because a company decided that is the standard in terms of lie, loft, shaft stiffness, length, grip size, that does not mean anything in terms of being fitted for you. Today there are so many advancements in club fitting, there are so many different opportunities for you to try different shafts, to try different size clubheads, to try different designs, different size soles, different centers of gravity that will make your game so much easier. If you have a club, for example let's take something simple. If this club is angles with the toe up and you hit a shot and you make a beautiful swing, zoom, that ball is going to go soaring out to the left. if that is you with that set of clubs you are going to have to learn how to hold your hands up real high and develop an bad swing to hit a good shot. So bad swings to make good shots are directly from bad equipment fitting. I am going to ask you to do yourself a favor. Pick a birthday, an anniversary, or if you have some loose change in your pockets and you figure need something special to boost your spirits as you are getting into golf season. Go to your local PGA Professional and tell him I want to be fit from head to toe. No obligation to buy. You just go and they will write you up a sheet of paper and they will take you through a fitting. That fitting takes less than on our but after that hour is over you are going to have an understanding on that piece of paper, this is the shaft I need, this is the lie I need, this is the grip sie I need. Look, everybody' hands are not the same size. Everybody does not deliver the same payload into the ball. People's arms are different lengths. Their torsos and legs are different lengths. Get yourself club fitted. It will pay off in so much more fun. You will play much better golf. Do it this year.

Club Path and Plane Keep your hands under your shoulders throughout the entire golf swing in order to develop a consistent club path during the swing
Swing Path Drill The Mickey Wright drill will help keep your club face square throughout the swing and your swing path coming from inside to out
One-Plane Over-the-Top Cure If you commonly come over the top and slice the ball the one plane swing is a great solution because you are bent over more and naturally attack the ball from the inside.
