Deliver the Right Shoulder to Hit Iron Shots with Authority
By Tim Brown, PGA | © Golf Tips Magazine

If you want to hit iron shots like a pro, the first step is to approach each shot with authority, just as you would with a driver. Too often, I see students who think successful iron play is a matter of swinging easy, allowing the club to slip underneath the ball and then trying to lift the ball through the air. Unfortunately, this formula is the recipe for disaster. Great iron play requires an authoritative, descending blow, not an upward sweeping motion. To ensure a downward blow and more authority with your iron play, look no further than your right shoulder.
