Ben Hogan Tour Deep Golf Ball Review
Specs

The Hogan Tour Deep is designed to compete against the Titleist Pro V series and other top-tier golf balls. This ball combines feel, firmness and spin rate to provide the best in golf ball technology. This ball feels very soft and comfortable off the putter. This newest of Hogan golf balls has a larger mantle, thin cover and deep dimple design optimized for low spin off the club face, high spin off the irons and high launch angle with almost vertical landing angle.

Perks

This golf ball spins beyond what the average amateur requires and adds significant yardage off the tee for players with 100- to 120-mph swing speeds. At that high-level speed, the ball jumps off the club face with little side spin and carries excessive spin off iron shots into the green.

Sacrifices

The Hogan Tour Deep is absolutely not a ball for the high-handicap amateur. This is comparable to the Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x designed for high-level amateurs and touring professionals who require spin and yardage off the tee.

Bottom Line

The Hogan Tour Deep is an outstanding ball equal to the Titleist Pro V, but less known. This ball is competitive beyond its reputation.

Golf Equipment Tip of the Day

Using Frequency to Test the Flex of Your Shafts
by Jeff Jackson
What's the flex of your shafts? At one time, a golfer could safely answer that his or her shafts were stiff, regular or ladies flex. That simply isn't the case any longer. Most manufacturers have their own method of shaft measurement. What this means is that one company's "R" flex shaft may actually be softer than another's "A" or even "L" flex. How, then, can a golfer select the appropriate shaft if no manufacturing standard exists? In a word: frequency.
