Reviews of TaylorMade Drivers

TaylorMade R9 Driver
Specs

TaylorMade is one of the most popular golf club brands among both professional and amateur golfers. TaylorMade's driver lineup currently consists of the R9, R7 and Burner Series. The R9 and R7 series retail from $199 to $499 while the Burner Series starts at the reasonable price of $149. Each series is available in tour preferred or limited versions, which target playing professionals and more accomplished golfers. Meanwhile, the basic models align more with the attributes of recreational players.

Perks

On the cutting edge of research and development, TaylorMade is dedicated to providing products which utilize the latest technologies. Their newest models boast deep club faces, allowing for maximum consistency and forgiveness. TaylorMade's large product line reaches a variety of skill levels. The R9 and R7 models are geared toward advanced players, especially when paired with the limited or tour preferred specifications. For mid- to high-handicappers, the Burner Series is the appropriate match.

Sacrifices

Although possessing the latest in technology is beneficial, it can prove to be a costly proposition. With the abundance of driver models sent to market by TaylorMade, consumers are often forced to upgrade their equipment a minimum of once per year. In addition, unlike other competing brands which aim toward simplifying the fitting and buying process, TaylorMade's customization options can be too difficult for novice or beginner players to deal with.

Bottom Line

TaylorMade's current batch of drivers allows each user to fully personalize their specifications while offering different tiers of pricing for consumers. As technology progresses in golf equipment, rest assured TaylorMade will be leading the pack with innovative driver designs.

Golf Equipment Tip of the Day

Using Frequency to Test the Flex of Your Shafts
by Jeff Jackson
What's the flex of your shafts? At one time, a golfer could safely answer that his or her shafts were stiff, regular or ladies flex. That simply isn't the case any longer. Most manufacturers have their own method of shaft measurement. What this means is that one company's "R" flex shaft may actually be softer than another's "A" or even "L" flex. How, then, can a golfer select the appropriate shaft if no manufacturing standard exists? In a word: frequency.
