Bite Golf Shoes Reviews
Specs

Bite gathered a bit of momentum a few years ago with its line of golf sandals, but its golf shoes with style in a semi-traditional look have developed a following. The Bite Portal, for instance, takes a new look at one of the most popular styles, the black-and-white saddle shoe. Built on what is basically a sneaker last, the Portal is comfortable and flexible and requires virtually no break-in. The shoe comes equipped with fast twist soft spikes and can be replaced with any cleat with that standard thread. The upper is made of a synthetic leather and carries a one year waterproof guarantee.

Perks

Simply put, comfort. These shoes are designed to be easy and comfortable for walking, something you'd expect from a company that made it's reputation building sandals. The price is right on this model as well. In an age where typical top-line golf shoes go for well over $100, the Bite Portal is available in many retail outlets for less than half that.

Sacrifices

Due to it's flexibility and possibly the synthetic leather, Bite shoes don't seem to have the durability of many other shoes on the market. Also, the company's one-year waterproof guarantee is half that of other brands. A clear leader on the comfort side, Bite will need to address durability to be truly competitive.

Bottom Line

The Bite Portal is a delivers a wonderfully comfortable walk regardless of how you might play. But you might want to alternate wearing them with other pairs to make them last.

Golf Equipment Tip of the Day

Using Frequency to Test the Flex of Your Shafts
by Jeff Jackson
What's the flex of your shafts? At one time, a golfer could safely answer that his or her shafts were stiff, regular or ladies flex. That simply isn't the case any longer. Most manufacturers have their own method of shaft measurement. What this means is that one company's "R" flex shaft may actually be softer than another's "A" or even "L" flex. How, then, can a golfer select the appropriate shaft if no manufacturing standard exists? In a word: frequency.
