Breakfast Restaurants in San Francisco
Don't head out for a day of golf in the Bay Area without indulging in a hearty breakfast. San Francisco restaurants will tempt you with home-baked scones, eggs benedict and luscious omelets (think dungeness crab, or pancetta and mushrooms). You won't have room for all the attractive options, so you just may want to extend your visit in the City by the Bay.

Town's End

Town's End offers a twofer---stunning views of the bay, plus scrumptious breakfasts. Try the inviting specials such as eggs with salmon and onions, or Swedish oatmeal pancakes served with scrambled eggs and cheese. Enjoy the huevos rancheros or the chorizo and eggs, both served with tomato and tomatillo salsas.

Vegetarians will like the fresh fruit salad topped with yogurt, and the vegan apple-sage sausage served with eggs. Other popular choices include the banana-walnut pancakes, and the French toast sampler that includes three kinds of bread: whole wheat, raisin-walnut and challah.

Mama's on Washington Square

Mama's has been in the same North Beach location for decades, attracting patrons with its friendly atmosphere and fresh, tasty fare. The breakfast options are so interesting and plentiful, it's hard to know what to select.

Try the omelets---you can choose pancetta, mushrooms and basil; spinach, leeks and goat cheese; or black beans, sour cream or salsa. If you love carbs, you'll be in heaven. Order the banana pancakes, the chocolate-cinnamon French toast or the Pan Dore (baguette French toast with sauteed apples and lemon-butter sauce). On the weekends, you'll also find specials such as shrimp and avocado benedict, and dungeness crab omelets.

Dottie's True Blue Cafe

Everyone has a favorite dish at Dottie's. A lot of people love The Southwestern (an open-face omelet with sausage, mushrooms and jack cheese), and others go for The Alabama Summer (pancakes or French toast with eggs, home fries and the famous buttermilk-dill toast).

It's fun to design your own omelet, with choices such as meats, gruyere cheese, pesto, scallions, mushrooms and jalapenos. For a lighter bite, you can order fruit salad, a fresh-baked scone or muffin, or a buttermilk pancake or two laced with ginger and cinnamon.
