Airports Near Asheville, North Carolina
There are three major airport hubs that travelers to Asheville use on a regular basis: the Asheville Regional Airport, Charlotte Douglas International Airport and Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport. Depending on where you will be playing golf, what schedule you need and your budget level, one of these airports can provide convenient access to the courses in Western North Carolina.

Asheville Regional Airport

Airlines that serve the growing Asheville Regional Airport (AVL) that borders Henderson and Buncombe counties include Air Tran, Delta, Continental and United Airways. In 2009, the small regional airport began major renovations that will expand the facility's runway and parking capacities to accommodate growth. Meanwhile, the airport is easy to get into and out of, with easy access to Interstate 26. The Asheville Regional Airport is about 30 minutes from downtown Asheville and the Grove Park Inn. Golfers heading to Broadmoor or Biltmore Forest can find easy access within 25 minutes of the airport. Tiger Woods' first golf course design at The Cliffs at High Carolinas is only a 40-minute drive from the Asheville Regional Airport. Crooked Creek and Cummings Cove golf courses in Hendersonville and Etowah Valley and Maggie Valley courses are within an hour drive of the small airport across from the Western North Carolina Fairgrounds.

Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP) is located in South Carolina on Interstate 85 a little over an hour away from Asheville. Allegiant Air, one of the discount carriers that serves communities in smaller airports, runs to Greenville-Spartanburg. About 90 minutes from Tiger Woods' The Cliffs at High Carolinas, the airport is easily accessible, clean and manicured. Other airlines flying into Greenville-Spartanburg on a daily basis include American Eagle, Delta, Continental, United Express, US Airways and Northwest. The drive to Asheville for those playing the Western North Carolina courses is a beautiful route up into the Great Smoky Mountains. Between the two locations, golfers can stop at the Furman University links and the Cottonwood Golf Club in Spartanburg.
