Day Things to Do in Chicago

Day Things to Do in Chicago
A trip to Chicago can be an ideal trip for a golfer. From spring through middle of autumn, Chicago is conducive to great golf conditions and there are a wide variety of courses. However, there are many other things to do during the day in Chicago besides playing golf. Here's a look at some of the best area options.

Chicago Cubs Baseball

Nearly all visitors to Chicago want to get to Wrigley Field at least once. Wrigley is the oldest National League stadium and all games were played during the day until the 1988 season, nearly 50 years after night baseball was introduced elsewhere. Wrigley Field is considered one of baseball's most charming venues--along with Boston's Fenway Park--because of its size and intimacy. Fans are closer to the playing field at Wrigley Field than they are at any other Major League ballpark.

The Chicago Cubs have a legion of loyal fans who have been waiting for a World Series title since 1908. The Cubs have not even been to the World Series since 1945, but that lack of success has not hurt the team's popularity. Once you plan your trip to Chicago, start searching for tickets immediately because they can be hard to come by.

Museum of Science and Industry

If you want a day to get away from sports, improve your mind and broaden your horizons, the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry is a can't-miss place to visit. The museum offers opportunities to learn about the human body, ecology, the future, the Great Lakes and the science of endurance. There are lectures, exhibits, films and interactive tools.

Cog Hill Golf and Country Club

Any golfer who comes to the Chicago area should try and play a round of golf at Cog Hill Golf and Country Club in suburban Lemont, Ill. Cog Hill is public and consists of a series of courses that are challenging and enjoyable.

The most noteworthy course is Dubsdread, which was the home of the Western Open for years and is now the home of the BMW Open. Tiger Woods almost never misses the opportunity to play at Dubsdread. While the top pros seem to tame this course regularly, it is a great challenge of shot making and distance for the solid amateur player.
