First Flight Airstrip (FFA)

Fly into Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, and experience a true piece of aviation history at First Flight Airstrip (FFA). This small airstrip, located between Kitty Hawk and Nags Head, North Carolina, at the Wright Brothers National Memorial, marks the spot of the historic inaugural flight by the Wright brothers in 1903. This airstrip can accommodate small aircraft and upholds a limited 24-hour tie-down restriction for pilots (no more than 48 hours within 30 days).

Midway between Raleigh and the Outer Banks is Pitt-Greenville Airport (PGV). Approximately three hours west by car (135 miles), PGV primarily services regional chartered flights, but has a daily connection with Charlotte via US Airways Express.
