Hotels on Fremont Street in Vegas

Hotels on Fremont Street in Vegas
Las Vegas can be as exciting a destination for the golfer as it is for the gambler with such public notables as Bali Hai and the Royal Links providing diversity and adventure. In the past, Fremont Street was the place to be. But, as Las Vegas has grown, the center of hotel attention has shifted from Fremont to the Strip. There are, however, still reasons to stay on Fremont Street.

The Golden Nugget

The Golden Nugget is one of Vegas' original heavy hitters with glitz and glam on high-voltage from the dazzling lights outside to the chandelier, brass and mirror interior. The rooms have all been updated and have a contemporary feel with a combination of muted and solid colors. The hotel has four towers of rooms which vary from standard guest accommodations to lavish suites with separate bedrooms and living rooms, large plasma televisions and wild, patterned furnishings, wallpaper and bedspreads. The pool area is the most recent place that has undergone a transformation and now features a shark tank along with a three-story water slide. There's also a spa for getting the tension out after a round or two of golf.

Binion's Gambling Hall and Hotel

Another of the originals, Binion's Gambling Hall and Hotel is a Vegas institution and the originator of the World Series of Poker. The massive poker room is still the draw, with betting limits running the gamut. The rooms have been upgraded. They can't compete with the mega resort casinos on the Strip but if you're looking for a taste of what Vegas was like back in the day, you won't get any closer than Binion's. There's a rooftop pool with a lounging area and if you're looking for a good meal to go with an incredible view of the Las Vegas Strip, Binion's Steakhouse offers prime cuts of meat and floor-to-ceiling windows that look over all the bright lights down below.

Plaza Hotel and Casino

Anchoring the west end of Fremont Street, the Plaza Hotel and Casino is newer but still a classic of the original Las Vegas experience. Built in the 1970s, the Plaza Hotel and Casino has over 1,000 rooms and suites that boast value for your buck. There's complimentary valet parking and rooms offer incredible views of Las Vegas from every angle. For the best views on Fremont, head up to the roof-top pool where you can look down on the Strip and the Fremont Experience. The casino features one of the best players clubs in all of Vegas where a new sign-up can get you up to a certain amount in free play on the first day.
