With the Rocky Mountains bordering the Western edge of the city and mountain-air golf in every direction, Denver is a superb location for a golf getaway. The legendary Cherry Hills Country Club sits just south and west of the city, but there are a number of public courses that demand to be played in areas like The Meadows, Fossil Trace and Arrowhead. If you're thinking about flying in, Denver is home to many airports, but only two that handle major commercial traffic.
Denver International Airport
Denver International Airport, or DIA, is one of the largest and busiest, airports in the United States. It brings you in out to the North and East of downtown but is a short 15-minute drive to dead center in the city. You can pick up most of the major Denver Interstates just five miles from the main terminal. DIA takes flights from all of the major domestic carriers and is a central hub for United. Transportation from the airport is also quick and convenient with every major rental car company represented in the terminal and shuttles and taxis awaiting new passengers right outside the main terminal doors.

Colorado Springs Airport
A rather short and scenic 60 miles south of Denver lies Colorado's only other major commercial airport, the Colorado Springs Airport. While about a 10th the size of DIA, the Colorado Springs Airport handles all of the major domestic carriers. The airport is the back up for DIA, and when the weather starts to whip on the front range so that it's unsafe to land at DIA, air traffic control will divert flights to Colorado Springs. The airport also houses the major car rental agencies and has shuttles and taxis waiting. If you're staying and playing in Denver, your best bet is to rent a car which would probably come out less expensive than taking a shuttle or taxi all the way back up.

Centennial Airport
There are a number of commuter, business and charter jet airports in and around the Denver area. If you have access to a charter or private plane, the most centralized of the various business airports is Centennial Airport located 15 minutes South of downtown in Arapahoe County. The airport has a Holiday Inn right next door in case you need accommodations but they don't have shuttles, rental cars, taxis or big commercial airlines. There is a restaurant in the terminal where you can go and watch the planes take off and land and the Inverness Golf Course is a mere two miles to the southwest.
