Hotel Congress
Located in the center of Downtown Tucson, this hotel was built in 1919 to serve the cattle industry and Southern Pacific Line railroad passengers. The 1934 fire that started in the basement and spread to the third floor facilitated the capture of notorious John Dillinger, who was hiding in the hotel. The hotel maintains historic authenticity in its 40 rooms on the second floor with wrought-iron beds, vintage radios, retro-phones that connect to a switchboard at the front desk.
Rooms have high-speed wireless Internet connections, but you won't have a television to watch when you go to your room. The guest lounge has a plasma television and a computer with Internet connections. Staff is available 24 hours. Eat at the hotel's on-site dining and entertainment options or go to Downtown Tucson establishments. The hotel is two and a half miles from El Rio Golf Course. Call (520) 791-4229 to book tee time.
