"Start Me Up" and "Satisfaction" by The Rolling Stones
Get your day started with the first song and think about what will make your day of golf truly satisfying with the second.
"Green Grass & High Tides" by The Outlaws and "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor
You really hope your day at the course is full of green grass and low scores, but this classic Southern rocker will get you at least thinking about those emerald fairways. Then, if you can't hit like the greatest golfer ever, you can at least have the eye of the Tiger (Woods, that is).
"Straight Down the Middle" by Bing Crosby and "Thanks for the Memories" by Bob Hope
A couple of classics from two of the greatest ambassadors for golf in Hollywood history.
"Someday" and "Is This It" by The Strokes
You're going to play golf, so we had to include a couple of songs by The Strokes. Plus, "Someday" contains a line that applies to how you're going to take your game more seriously or give it up completely: "No, I ain't wasting no more time."
"Bad to the Bone" and "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer" by George Thorogood
The opening riff can't help but get you pumped up to play and, well, "Bad" might also describe your score. Hey, at least you'll have that song in your head. The second song could make for a nice order on the 19th hole.
"Hit Me with Your Best Shot" by Pat Benatar and "Vacation" by the Go-Gos
For the ladies in your foursome. Consider Pat Benatar's song a challenge from the ball, while the Go-Gos remind you that you're on vacation--even if it's just for the day.
"Take it Easy" by The Eagles and "I'm Alright" by Kenny Loggins
We'll mellow a little bit and remember that the key to a good golf shot is a nice easy swing. Think Easy Ernie Els.
And Loggins's theme from "Caddyshack" has to be in there somewhere since you can't get through 18 holes without someone quoting from the movie.
"Girls on the Beach" and "I Get Around" by The Beach Boys
When you're on the beach, er, in the sand trap, you can at least think about the girls in the Beach Boys' songs. And when you're in the rough on the left and the right, you'll know the true meeting of getting around on the golf course.
"Big Balls" and "Thunderstruck" by AC/DC
Gottta end with a bang, and since AC/DC's original lead singer, Bon Scott, was born in golf's birthplace of Scotland, let's go with a tribute to those dimpled white orbs--"Big Balls." And then let's follow it up with a Brian Johnson-sung smash, "Thunderstruck," which describes how you hope to hit those balls on the course.
