Helen is a town in the Blue Ridge Mountains by the Chattahoochee River of northeast Georgia that re-created itself as a tourist attraction by turning itself into an alpine village. The town has many German-themed events, such as Oktoberfest and Volksmarch, and restaurants also serve German food. However, the town still maintains its Southern touch with other restaurants offering traditional Southern country meals. If you're looking to golf, the Innsbruck Resort & Golf Club, an 18-hole, par-7 public course, is the only golf course in town. If you prefer to travel with your dog, there are several hotels in Helen that allow pets.
