The Big Easy, as New Orleans is commonly called, is the largest city in Louisiana, boasting a metropolitan population of more than 1.1 million. It is one of the most frequented vacation destinations in the Southeast, and as such, has a bevy of hotels to offer visitors. If you're planning on staying near the Superdome, there are dozens of hotels to choose from.
Le Pavillon Hotel
Less than two miles east of the Superdome is Le Pavillon Hotel. As one of the closest hotels to the stadium, guests are given the luxury of forgoing the cost of a taxi if they'd like to take some time to walk to and from the many restaurants and shops that surround the Superdome. Apart from the most basic of amenities, including continental breakfast in the morning made up of bagels, omelettes and muffins, an indoor pool and an expansive exercise facility, Le Pavillon Hotel is adjacent to the French Quarter, a beautiful stretch of the city that houses some of the city's best restaurants and live music venues.
Five miles north of Le Pavillon is New Orleans City Park, a 1,300-acre facility that houses an amusement park, picnic grounds, a golf course and a driving range. Enjoy the newly renovated club house, three 18-hole courses and a 100-stall driving range. There also are amateur and professional tournaments held year- round.

Royal Sonesta Hotel New Orleans
Less than three miles north of the Superdome is the Royal Sonesta Hotel New Orleans. If you want to stay somewhere other than a chain hotel like a Days Inn or a Marriott (which New Orleans has plenty of by the way), Royal Sonesta Hotel New Orleans is for you. There is a large outdoor pool to relax at, complimentary high-speed Internet in all rooms, several dining options on site that range from casual lunches to elegant dinners. One such establishment, Begue's Restaurant, is one of the city's few four-star restaurants. Enjoy delicious Creole/French cuisine and world-class service without leaving your hotel.
Five miles southeast of downtown New Orleans is the Lakewood Golf Club, a relatively new golf course that was opened to the public in February of 2009 after undergoing a $9 million renovation. Designed by golf architect Ron Garl, this par-72 course stretches more than 7,000 yards. The 444-yard "Fire in the Hole" shows Garl's innovation when it comes to sand traps. The 18th hole is surrounded by traps in the shape of flames set in red sand, a tribute to New Orleans firefighters.
