Bay Area Breakfast Restaurants

Bay Area Breakfast Restaurants
The only thing more enjoyable than playing golf in the Bay Area is preceding your game with a delicious breakfast. The choices are outstanding and varied---from exquisite bread puddings to creative omelets and mouthwatering French toast. Be sure to go with your golf buddies so you can sample more items on the breakfast menus.

Boulette's Larder

Enjoy breakfast on the weekdays or Sunday brunch at Boulette's Larder in the lively San Francisco Ferry Building. The dishes are so inviting it's hard to know what to eat first.

Even the simplest foods take on exciting form at Boulette's. For instance, house yogurt is served with pomegranate seeds, black walnuts and agave syrup, and scrambled eggs come with rice, diced pork and hazelnuts. Poached eggs are served in a tomato broth with roasted eggplant and tomato vinaigrette. For a real treat, order the wild-mushroom custard bread pudding, and for a light bite, enjoy toasted breads with chocolate-hazelnut spread.

Mama's on Washington Square

Mama's is a family-run restaurant that has served scrumptious breakfasts for decades in the same location. People keep coming back for the savory omelets, freshly baked breads and homemade jams.

Popular egg dishes include the smoked salmon scramble with green onions; poached eggs with black beans and house-made salsa; and eggs benedict with prosciutto and tomatoes. The omelets are tasty, too, such as Italian sausage and hot pepper cheese, or baby spinach and sour cream. Many patrons go for the French toast, including banana nut or cinnamon with fruit. The weekends also feature enticing specials---try the shrimp and avocado eggs benedict, or the cranberry-orange French toast with walnuts.

Bette's Oceanview Diner

You won't get an ocean view at Bette's, but you will eat a fresh, delicious breakfast in a fun diner atmosphere. People don't mind waiting in line for Bette's potato pancakes with sour cream and homemade applesauce, or the souffle pancakes including banana rum and apple brandy. Other favorite dishes are the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon; the corned beef hash with poached eggs; and the fresh-herb omelets.

You also can buy some treats to take home. Bette's sells pancake, waffle and scone mixes, and Bette's-To-Go next door offers tasty sandwiches and pastries.
