The Tribute Golf Club
With the heat, humidity and Southern accents, Texas is about as far away from the United Kingdom as you can get. Thanks to the Tribute, you don't have to fly across the pond to play links golf. Inspired by the likes of St. Andrews, Royal Troon and Carnoustie, the Tribute prides itself on bringing the ultimate Scottish golf tradition home to Dallas. This 7,002-yard course is settled on more than 260 acres of farmland on the shoreline of Lake Lewisville. Most of the holes are modeled after famed layouts from the great links and British Open courses. The pot bunkers and open layout make this a true Scottish find in the heart of Texas.

Cowboys Golf Club
The Dallas Cowboys are America's team, and this themed course just might be America's next great golf club. Voted as the best service in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area by "Avid Golf Magazine," Cowboys GC is owned by the Dallas Cowboys; it features a blue Cowboys Star on the No. 4 fairway. Each golf cart is named after a Cowboys' great. Even if you hate the Star, though, you can easily look past it once you step to the tee on this resort-style, 7,017-yard course. Each hole dares you into a chance opportunity off elevated tees and onto luscious, rolling fairways.

The Alamo
Fill your brain with more than just dizzying memories of the majestic golf courses of Texas. Remember to visit the Alamo. More than 2.5 million people annually visit the famed site, which stands as a stark reminder of the price of freedom. "The Shrine of Texas Liberty" was built in 1724 and served as the turning point of the Texas Revolution in 1836. Almost all of the Texan soldiers died defending the Alamo from Mexican troops, but the casualties sustained rallied a region and a country to come to the state's aid. The Battle of the Alamo eventually sparked the phrase, "Remember the Alamo," which was shouted repeatedly during the victorious Battle of San Jacinto. That battled earned Texas its independence.
