Phoenix and its suburbs are home to over 200 golf courses and many are very expensive, especially in the winter season when there is a large increase in seasonal residents. However, with so many courses in Phoenix, several cater to guests who want affordable prices while not sacrificing on the quality of course.
Encanto 18 Golf Course
Encanto 18 is an 18-hole course owned by the city of Phoenix, and has the distinction of being the third-oldest golf course in Arizona. It is best suited for the novice to intermediate golfer due to its flat wide fairways and lack of challenging obstacles. It is lined with palm and cedar trees and has great views of downtown Phoenix. The rates are very low for a course in this area of Arizona averaging $20 to $40 a round. There is a fully stocked pro shop on site along with putting greens and a driving range.

Estrella Mountain Golf Course
Estrella Mountain is a traditional parkland-style course located in western Phoenix. It is an 18-hole, par 71 championship course and is set on the edge of the mountains making some holes bordering a very rough mountainous landscape. Fairways are fairly narrow and lined with cedar trees, and greens are guarded with deep bunkers. Visitors will find a well-stocked pro shop, driving range and a grill that offers food and drinks. Rates average $20 to $50 a round depending on the season. Professional golf instruction is available by appointment with the local pro.

Palm Valley Golf Club
Palm Valley Golf Club has two 18-hole courses that are attractively set in the rugged desert landscape. They are designed to be challenging to most golfers, but flexible enough for novice players to enjoy. Both courses have lakes that come into play as well as greens that are very protected by deep bunkers. Palm Valley offers golfers many amenities found at high-priced courses for a very affordable rate, averaging $20 to $60 a round. They do accept tee times. Palm Valley books private outings and also is home to a banquet room that can be rented out for weddings or meeting.
