Wynn Las Vegas
Wynn Las Vegas has gone to great lengths to duplicate the great outdoors on the north end of the Strip; the physical plant includes a 3-acre lake and a man-made mountain complete with pine trees and waterfalls. Room rates start at $160; weekend rates are a bit higher, however. Guests can choose from a wide selection of international cuisines at the resorts 15 restaurants, and enjoy spending time at the nightclub Blush. The resort has its own 18-hole, par 70 golf course, as well as a driving range.

Ritz Carlton Lake Las Vegas
Accommodations at the Ritz Carlton Lake Las Vegas, 17 miles from the Strip, start at around $179 per night for weekend nights. Guests have access to several amenities on the property, including the spa, driving range and lap pool, though the resort may impose special fees that aren't part of the room rate. Check with them. In addition, you can rent a kayak or paddleboat at the marina on the lake. Hotel guests are offered special preference for tee times at a couple of nearby courses (Revere at Anthem and Rio Secco), where you can take advantage of special rates.

Silverton Casino Lodge
The Silverton Casino Lodge is not only an affordable place to spend a weekend (the rooms start at around $90 for weekend nights), it's where you'll find Las Vegas Bass Pro Shops. The piece de resistance at this hotel is the huge saltwater aquarium, where thousands of tropical fish entertain guests free of charge (and they have mermaids). If that's not enough to satisfy your wild side, the hotel is about 3 miles from the Strip, and shuttles run at regular intervals.

Circus Circus
The Strip is still a good place to lose yourself for a weekend, and a number of Strip hotels offer very good nightly rates. Circus Circus is probably among the most affordable accommodations; in addition to inexpensive rooms (shop the sales and you can find a weekend rate between $50 and $70). Enjoy free circus acts, ride the roller coaster at the resort's theme park, and eat your fill at the "world's largest buffet." Guests are invited to golf at Walters Golf courses, including the Royal Links Golf Club, Desert Pines Golf Club or Bali Hai Golf Club.
