Hotels in Fort Walton Beach, Florida
In the western panhandle of Florida lies Fort Walton Beach, Florida, a popular vacation destination with population of just over 20,000. It is a fishing and beach resort community whose local economy relies heavily on tourism. But beautiful strips of beach aren't the only thing drawing in tourists. Nearly a dozen golf courses line the tropical town. Because of its dependence on tourism, there are a bevy of hotels available all throughout the city at very reasonable prices.

Four Points by Sheraton

Fort Walton does not have an airport, but the city of Destin, just five miles east, has the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport. The closest hotel in Fort Walton to the airport is the Four Points by Sheraton. There are many guest services, including outdoor pools, a Jacuzzi, a fitness center and free cable television in every room. Not only that but all the rooms are 100 percent smoke-free.

Just four miles north of the hotel is the Shalimar Pointe Golf & Country. The Shalimar is designed to be like a U.S. Open qualifier and was given three and a half stars by "Golf Digest" magazine. It is a pro-style, par-72 course that spans over 6,600 yards. There are also five tees to allow for a range of skills.

Best Western Fort Walton Beach Beachfront

Less than a mile west of the Sheraton is the Best Western Fort Walton Beach Beachfront. This location was rated AAA-Three Diamonds and has an outdoor pool that stays heated, free cable television, high-speed wireless and complimentary breakfast. If you are bringing your family, know that children under 12 stay free with one paying adult. Last but not least, guests of the hotel are eligible for golf packages offered only to patrons of the hotel.

Cayo Grande Suites Hotel

Two miles north of what is considered downtown is the Cayo Grande Suites Hotel. Guests are accommodated with complimentary high-speed wireless Internet, data port phones, free cable television, an executive desk for work, microwaves, mini fridges and all beds come with a lumbar pillow for maximum neck and back comfort.

Less than a mile northeast of the Cayo Grande Suites Hotel is the Fort Walton Beach Club Complex, which includes two courses, the Oaks Course and the Pines Course. The Oaks Course is lined with (naturally) oak trees, is a par-72 course and spans over 6,400 yards. There are many water hazards and fairways are narrow. The Pines Course is a par-72 and stretches out over 6,800 yards. It is bordered by an upland pine forest. Both are incredibly challenging but make for a relaxing afternoon of golf.
