Top Ten Attractions in Myrtle Beach
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, a popular Southeast golf destination, has numerous historic golf courses developed to make use of the natural landscape for the fairways. The city has other attractions beside these outstanding courses, including places that draw visitors of all ages, such as amusement parks, museums, live entertainment venues and, of course, the Atlantic beaches.

Pine Lakes Country Club

Called the Granddaddy of South Carolina golf courses, this club, which opened in 1927, is on the National Register of Historical Places. Its 18-hole course exemplifies Scottish architecture with its natural dunes. The clubhouse maintains Southern architecture and boasts the Pine Lakes Grill that serves breakfast and lunch.

River Oaks Golf Plantation

This 27-hole golf course, located in a former nature preserve, is five minutes from downtown Myrtle Beach and the Atlantic Ocean. Its holes are broken up into three 9-hole courses, all along tree-lined fairways. The plantation is the site of the Glen David Golf School, providing one-day instruction that includes video swing analysis.

Captain Hook's Adventure Golf

Dragon's Lair Fantasy Golf

This 18-hole miniature golf course transports you back to the Middle Ages. The course includes a 30-foot-tall fire-breathing dragon. You go through a series of caves and castles. The amusement facility is located near shopping and dining locales.

Burroughs and Chapman Art Museum

The Burroughs museum, located across from Springmaid Pier in Myrtle Beach, contains visual art displays. There's a permanent collection, education programs, workshops and lectures. The museum has kids' art and adult classes. The "Bishop Collection of Antique Maps and Prints," part of the permanent collection, displays maps from 1606 to 1863. Admission is free, but donations are accepted.

Children's Museum

The Children's Museum of South Carolina presents interactive exhibits and programs about science, technology and culture. Kids play with hands-on exhibits that teach gravity and the laws of motion. Permanent exhibits include "Discover South Carolina," in which children learn about animals and habitats in the state.
