Fort Myers is located on the southwest coast of Florida and has a very tropical feel. There are many recreational opportunities in the area and most are based around the plentiful lakes and waterways. The city is home to a nice collection of golf courses that are very diverse in atmosphere and can accommodate every skill level. The courses capitalize on the water available since fort Myers is directly on the Gulf of Mexico.

Shell Point Golf Club

The Shell Point Golf Club is located just across the road from the wetlands of the Fort Myers inlet. It is an 18 hole championship course that has a very tropical feel with palm tree lining the fairways and water being incorporated at most holes. Although the terrain is mostly flat, the water hazards and winding layout will challenge most golfers. There are many other amenities at the course for golfers. They have an on-site driving range, putting area and fully stocked pro shop. There is also an on staff professional for lessons or for any help that you may need.

Eagle Ridge Golf Club

Eagle Ridge Golf Club is rated the number one golf course by the people of Fort Myers, according to the local newspaper News Press. It is a 6,500 yard par 72 championship layout course that is accented by native pines and cypress trees. The Eagle Ridge course has many water features such as waterways and lakes that come into play on almost every hole making it truly a very challenging course. The club is open to the public and also sells memberships which give the benefits of preferred tee times and discounted cart rates. There is also a fully stocked pro shop, practice facility and snack shop at the club.

Fort Myers Country Club

Fort Myers Country Club is a private golf club. It is home to one of the oldest golf events in Florida the Coors Open, which is a Pro Amateur tournament that is held annually and brings in golfers from all over America. The course is an 18 hole championship layout that has a waterway running directly through the middle. This waterway comes into play for a lot of the holes. This course is very popular due to the low green fees, and the fact that you can walk the course at all times. There is also a pro shop and café located on-site.
