A haven for golf courses, the wide expanses of the Canadian countryside have produced some of the top golfing destinations in North America. With professional golfers like Mike Weir hailing from Canada, the country has more than its fair share of top-level of courses that can be enjoyed from some of the most luxurious, historic and famous hotels in the country. Near these hotels, some of the country's top-50 ranked courses are within just short miles.

Empress Victoria

The Empress Victoria Resort is located in Victoria, British Columbia and is built in classic Victorian style. The largest hotel in the city, the Empress Victoria features multiple restaurants with local cuisine, a short walk to whale watching safaris and cultural exhibits and gardens on locations. The hotel will be one of the final destinations for the Olympic Torch before the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver. The hotel is located a short drive from the 18-hole championship Royal Colwood Golf Club.

Royal York

The Fairmont Royal York, located in Toronto, is a luxury hotel located in the largest metropolitan area in Canada. It is located in the heart of downtown, adjacent to the city's entertainment and financial districts and the Rosedale Golf Club. The hotel also features a fully stocked meeting center and conference room. It was built in 1929 and features 28 floors, nine restaurants and over 1,600 rooms, each with an individual shower or bath.

Chateau Frontenac

One of the most popular tourist attractions in Quebec, the Chateau Frontenac was opened in 1893 as the sister hotel of the one at Banff Springs. It was named after the 17th century governor of the region and housed Franklin Roosevelt and Winston Churchill during 1943's Quebec Conference. It is built near the historic site of the Plains of Abraham and stands looking over the St. Lawerence River. Named one of the world's top 100 hotels, the Chateau Frontenac features more than 1,000 rooms with hundreds of deluxe suites and two and three bedroom accommodations. It is located across the street from the King Valley Golf Club.

Banff Springs

Located in Banff, Alberta, the Banff Springs Hotel was built in the 1880s as a railway hotel. It is located in the Rocky Mountains at the Bow Falls and near to the area's thermal springs. The hotel features the world-famous Banff Springs Golf Course and is located along Willow Stream. The hotel boasts a 38,000 square foot spa, waterfall pools and world-renowned skiing, as well as over 1,000 rooms for guests and visitors.
