Eagle Ridge Golf Club
This 6,538-yard course sits just south of Fort Myers. With water coming into play on 17 of 18 holes, this course presents plenty of challenges for any level of golfer. Keep an eye out for the par-3 eighth hole. Water runs the length of this 170-yard hole on both sides, so a bad tee shot in either direction could leave your ball wet. Eagle Ridge also offers an expanded pro shop, a snack bar, a driving range where you can hit off grass or mats and practice greens. Rate (18 holes in October 2009) varies between $25 and $69 a round depending on the month of year and includes a cart.

Eastwood Golf Course
Eastwood plays 6,772 yards but is very challenging with 87 bunkers and water hazards coming into play on 10 out of 18 holes. Just east of Fort Myers, Eastwood is owned and operated by the city. Also available are a well-stocked pro shop, a driving range and practice green, golf lessons from PGA teaching professionals and a café. The par-4 seventh hole is a short 307 yards. It is a dogleg left, however, and the small green is protected in the front by water and the left and right by bunkers. A par is not a bad score for this daunting hole. Rate (18 holes) varies between $20 and $28 a round depending on what time of day you play and includes a cart.

San Carlos Golf Club
The San Carlos Golf Club sits off I-75 in southern Forth Myers. Although this course is semi-private and member owned, you can still get a round in at very reasonable prices. San Carlos also offers a pro shop, an aqua driving range, a pitching and chipping area, a practice bunker and putting green. The 6,465-yard course plays fairly straight, with only two holes having anything more than a slight dogleg. A tricky hole to remember is the par-5 13th hole. At 485 yards, this hole is a double dogleg, first going left, then right, so an accurate tee shot will keep you in the fairway and out of trouble. As of 2009, the rate for 18 holes varies between $25 and $33 a round depending on what time of day you play and includes a cart.

Stoneybrook Golf Course
In nearby Estero, the 7,353-yard Stoneybrook is one of the longest courses in the area. Water, bunkers and tall palm trees come into play on every hole, so try to keep your shot from straying away from the fairway or you'll have a tough time getting out of trouble. The 184-yard par-3 seventh is the easiest hole on the course but still offers plenty of challenges. The contoured green is protected in the front and back by large bunkers and if you miss right, you'll be fishing for your ball. An accurate shot to the left side of the green will give you the best chance for a birdie. The 2009 rates for 18 holes vary between $25 and $105 depending on the time of day and year.
