Things to Do in New York City for Teenagers
If you are spending time in New York City on a golf vacation with some teenagers, they might get bored. There are plenty of non-golf options for the teenagers, whether they are interested in shopping or sports or want to scope out some famous locations in the city. There are even some nearby golf stores and activities for the parents to check out.

On Location Tours

New York is home to many sets where TV shows and movies get taped. Take your teen on a tour with On Location Tours, so they can see the places used in some of their favorite movies and shows, such as "Gossip Girl," "Spider-Man," "Friends," "Ghostbusters," "Sex and the City" and "The Sopranos." As of October 2009, tours start at $36 and last between three and four hours. Tickets can be purchased online. More than 40 sites from more than 60 movies and TV shows are visited during the tour.

The NBA Store

If your teenager is into basketball, take them to the NBA Store at Fifth Avenue and 52nd Street. The store has two stories of NBA and WNBA merchandise. There is a half-court shooting area with a regulation-size hoop. Teens can also check out video games, the interactive player video wall and watch footage and game broadcasts on the arena-size video screen. Special free events often occur at the store, including player appearances and the NBA Store Concert Series. A current events schedule is on the NBA Store website.

The World of Golf on 47th Street is just a few blocks from the NBA Store. It is full of golf equipment, apparel and accessories. It even has equipment that can diagnose and examine your swing to help fit you for clubs.
