Berlin, Maryland, is a small and quiet town, but for serious golfers, it can be quite an exciting place. The area is scattered with world-class courses, and because it's somewhat off the beaten path, getting a tee time can often be easier than in larger golf destination cities. The problem is what to do when the sun goes down; as a small town, dining and nightlife options in Berlin are relatively limited. But if you know where to go, you can find a fine selection of wine and accompaniments without going too far out of your way.
The Globe Theater
The Globe Theater is a mixed-use facility with a bar, restaurant, live music performance venue and art gallery. Though not technically a wine bar, this is the closest you can get without leaving Berlin. Dozens of bottles are available, and while you may not be able to buy a bottle of exquisitely rare wine here, you won't pay exorbitant prices, either. The Bay Club Golf Course is located less than a mile to the northwest.

Vineyard in the Pines
Vineyard in the Pines is an upscale Italian restaurant that offers exceptional lakeside views. Though the name suggests an emphasis on wine, the real star is the excellent food. But a respectable wine selection is always available, and the waiters and bartenders are capable of making thoughtful wine pairing suggestions for any Italian dish. The Ocean Resorts Golf Club is located a mile and a half to the west.

The Yacht Club Pool Bar
The Yacht Club Pool Bar is a seasonal drinking establishment where you're far more likely to see someone sipping a frozen daiquiri by the pool than a glass of wine. Nonetheless, a nice selection of wine is served here--ask the bartender for a wine list. Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club is located less than a half mile to the north.

DeNovo's Trattoria
DeNovo's Trattoria is a casual, family-style Italian restaurant with an unexpectedly large wine list. This establishment is located in a strip mall, so it can be easy to miss, and it doesn't exactly look like a fine wine establishment from the outside. But once you're seated, you'll have your pick of at least two dozen reasonably priced bottles, and all wines are available by the glass. The River Run Golf Course is located two miles to the northwest.

Liquid Assets
Though it is technically outside of the Berlin city limits, Liquid Assets is not far away in Ocean City. And if you're serious about your wine selection, it's worth the drive. This huge bar and bistro regularly hosts affordable wine tastings, and the Maryland Restaurant Association recognized it with the Best Wine and Beer Program Award over every drinking establishment in the state. Glen Riddle Golf Club is located two miles to the west.
