Broad Ripple Brew Pub
The true English pub experience, this pub was opened in 1990 by a native Hoosier and Englishman intending to bring a little of England to the people of Indianapolis. The fireplace, paneling and tine roof is the same as you find in many English pubs, and the outdoor cafe is the largest in Broad Ripple.
This is a microbrewery and claims to be the first in Indianapolis, but if you are looking for your typical beers, you won't find them here. The menu is a good taste of English food, with its Scotch Eggs and Pub Ploughman's Platter, but its Bison Burger was named one of the best burgers in the city by Indianapolis Monthly.

Alcatraz Brewing Co.
Alcatraz Brewing Co. is in the downtown area of the city at one of the biggest malls in the state, but the bar makes you feel like you are in San Francisco with its replica Golden Gate Bridge and Chinese pagoda. The menu brings you food from different areas of San Francisco, such as Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf and the Mission.
The hand-crafted beers and cask ales are also something different and have won awards for flavor. The best part is that the beer of the day is only $2.50 all day long. The cocktails, as well as the generous list of wines that you can be served, outnumber the beers.

8 Seconds Saloon
The bar was originally a large bowling alley in Indianapolis and then became a huge dance club with a variety of live performers such as Toby Keith, Brooks and Dunn and Bo Bice from "American Idol" fame. This is a place that fits its name, primarily country, but it is expanding to a rock crowd.
8 Seconds Saloon is meant to be a place to dance the two-step and have a few beers, with a limited menu of pizza and hot dogs.
