Cyclorama & Civil War Museum
Atlanta is home to the Cyclorama & Civil War Museum where visitors can view a 42-foot tall, 358-feet round cylinderlike painting on a rotating platform. The painting, which shows the Battle of Atlanta, was created by 11 artists and took 22 months to finish.

Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site
Atlanta is the birth place of civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. His birth home, located at 501 Auburn Ave. is a must-see, and tours are held daily. Tours are conducted on a first-come, first-serve basis and are limited to 15 people per tour.

CNN studio tours

Oakland Cemetery/Bobby Jones burial site
Legendary golfer Bobby Jones is buried in Oakland Cemetery, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. More than 48,000 people are buried in the cemetery, including Confederate and Union soldiers, politicians and writers. A map for a self-guided walking tour costs $1 and is available at the visitors center.
