In Maui, recreational activities range from bicycling down a volcano to swimming, snorkeling, surfing, boogie boarding and deep sea diving. Golfers, though, will find their own little piece of paradise by playing just a few of the many spectacular courses on this small island. Golf is truly a very different sort of experience there from most places on the mainland. In Kansas, you don't tee off with a whale breaching through the water in the distance.
Kaanapali Golf Resort
You will find two challenging courses at Kaanapali Resort. The North Course is a bit tougher than the South Course, which has mercifully wider fairways. You may want to tackle the North Course, however, because it will give you the chance to test your game on the same course where the Kaanapali Classic Senior PGA Tour event is held.

Wailea Golf Club
The Wailea Golf Club, which has three championship courses, is the site of the Wendy's Champions Skins Game. Choose from the Old Blue, Emerald and Gold courses. The main worry on any of these courses is being distracted by the incredible views of the mountains and ocean. The Blue Course is best for beginners, the Gold Course far more challenging. The Emerald Course is preferred by those with higher handicaps.

Whale Watching
One of the activities that makes Maui unique from many other vacation destinations is the opportunity to see whales in their natural habitat. The humpback whales of the Pacific Ocean make their migratory return to the Hawaiian Islands every winter. While there these majestic and enormous marine mammals breed, give birth and nurse their babies. If you visit Maui from around the middle of December until the middle of April you can witness the breathtaking sight of these leviathans. Make a point to take a whale-watching tour during your stay. Adventure Maui offers several whale-watching tours that depart from various spots around Maui, including Kaanapali Beach, Lahaina Harbor and Maalaea Harbor. Depending on which tour you choose, it may include a continental breakfast, cocktails and the chance to go snorkeling.
