Downtown Canon City
Canon City features an historic downtown that is very walk-able for visitors. It is listed on the National Historic Register for its abundance of 19th century architecture. It has an "Old West" feel to it and also boasts many shopping and dining opportunities. It is an ideal place to visit and relax after playing a round of golf.
Whitewater Rafting
The Arkansas River runs through the Royal Gorge and provides an excellent area to whitewater raft. There are rapids that are appropriate for all skill levels--from beginners to experts. Royal Gorge Rafting service provides state-of-the-art self- bailing rafts and new river equipment. Equipment is free with raft rental, and expert trained guides are included in the cost. Children also can participate as they have all necessary safety equipment.

Royal Gorge Route Train
The Royal Gorge Route train takes visitors on a 24-mile tour of the Royal Gorge that lasts more than two hours. The train offers several classes of service and seats, as well as an open-air car that everyone has access to. They are known for their specialty train rides, such as dinner, wine tasting and murder mystery rides. The murder mystery tour is a guest favorite. It includes a three-course gourmet dinner along with play-along mystery. The train leaves from the Santa Fe Depot in the heart of downtown Canon City.

Dinosaur Depot
The Dinosaur Depot is a museum that exhibits local fossils found in the immediate area. The areas surrounding Canon City have produced many Jurassic dinosaur fossils. Some of the dinosaurs and fossils are on display, as well as explanations of the removal and preservation of them. The museum is a great place to bring children, as it will keep them occupied for hours and teach them about the history of the earth.
