Florida is one of the top golfing destinations in the country. Not only is the weather suitable for the game throughout most of the year, there are a wide variety of courses throughout the state. The Bay Hill Club and Lodge
The Bay Hill Club and Lodge in Orlando, Florida is a 7,205-yard monster of a course that demands long and accurate hitting. It was built by golfing legend Arnold Palmer. The 6th hole, a 558-yard par 5 with water all the way down the left side, is the hardest and most memorable hole on the course. This is a must-play if you are vacationing in the Orlando area.
Players Stadium Course
The Players Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra is one of the most famous golf courses in the state, having hosted several major golf tournaments and also being featured on many of the top video-game systems. The 7,215-yard course designed by Pete Dye features the famous par-3 17th hole that features an island green and requires accuracy and a deft touch. While it is very expensive--$299 per round--it is one of top courses in the world and also has beautiful amenities.
PGA Golf Club
The PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie is the home club of the Professional Golfers Association. What this means to the average visitor is that they will get to play a tough but fair course that will reward excellent play but make life difficult for those that can't keep it in the fairway. The 7,205-yard, par 72 course has 80 bunkers and 10 water hazards to keep a golfer on his toes. The greens are small and lightning fast.
