Consider Resort Advantages
Don't consider price the only object when deciding whether to stay inside the park at one of Disney's resorts. Resort guests have many advantages that aren't available to those who stay outside the park. Golfer get discounts on greens fees, parks open earlier for you, you can park your car once and use the Disney transportation to get around, and some resorts even offer child care and babysitting services.
Weigh Course Proximity
Another advantage to staying at a Disney resort is that you can have your clubs transported from one course to another so you don't have to drive around with them or carry them onto the Disney buses. Certain Disney resorts offer a more convenient location to Disney's five golf courses. The best resorts for golfing convenience are Saratoga Springs, the Grand Floridian, the Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge, and Port Orleans.
Plan Down Time
Trying to fit everything you can into a short period at Disney is a recipe for short tempers, fatigue and a long trip home. When planning your itinerary, carve out an hour or two every day to head back to the hotel for a swim, lunch or even a nap. The best time for this is late in the afternoon when the day will be hottest.
Brace for Humidity
It really isn't just the heat in Orlando, it is the humidity. Don't be confused by the temperature readings when planning a trip to Orlando. During the peak Disney World season from Memorial Day to Labor Day a temperature of 90 degrees is going to feel more like 100 when you add in the draining humidity. This is not the dry heat of the Southwest and especially if you are over 50, expect to be drained and breathing heavy by noon. You can't really prepare for the Orlando summer until you've experienced, but be aware that it is going to be more sweltering than you may think.
