There are several opportunities for women who want to play college golf in the state of Oklahoma. Oklahoma University, Oklahoma State University and the University of Central Oklahoma all have prominent women's programs that include scholarships for qualified golfers.
Oklahoma Lady Sooners
Oklahoma University is one of the most prominent schools on the national collegiate sports scene. While the Sooners are best known for their football success, they have had success at many sports including basketball, baseball, golf and women's golf. The Lady Sooners play their golf in the Big 12 conference and they have won two conference championships since beginning play in 1975. The Lady Sooners play during the fall and the team has nine members on the roster.
Oklahoma State Cowgirls
The Oklahoma State Cowgirls also compete in the Big 12 conference. The Cowgirls have six women on their golf team and they have been playing golf at the varsity level since the 1980s. The Cowgirls have regularly been among the contending teams in the Big 12, having won six Big 12 conference championships. Their golf season is in the fall.
Central Oklahoma Bronchos
The Central Oklahoma Bronchos compete in the Lone Star conference. The Bronchos have nine women on their golf team and they have been competing at the varsity level since the 2003-2004 season. The Bronchos have won two Lone Star conference championships. Their golf season is in the fall as well.
