Tips to Improve Your Golf Swing

Tips to Improve Your Golf Swing
Golf is a complicated swing and learning to improve your swing is a lifetime goal for most golfers. If you ever think you are going to perfect your swing, you should pick a new sport right now. Tiger Woods, arguably the greatest golfer since Bobby Jones and perhaps the best of all-time, has rebuilt his swing from step one twice during his professional career and has made minor improvements continuously. Golfers are always looking for ways to improve their game.

Let your hips drive your swing

Many golfers who are new to the game believe they have to pound the ball with a good hard shot that is driven by their hands and arms. They are mistaken. In order to build a consistent and effective swing, you need to drive your golf swing with your hips. You must turn your hips to the right to get your backswing going and you have to fire them back to the left to have an effective downswing. Your hands and arms should follow. If you let your hands lead you, distance and accuracy will become a major problem.

Transfer your weight

When you are at the top of your backswing, your weight will be on your right side. As you start your downswing, move your weight to your left side. The moment of impact between the club head and the ball should occur an instant after the majority of your weight has transferred to your left side.

Keep your knees flexed

As much as non-golfers will tell you that golf is a game for non-athletes, you should know better. Golf is a sport and the more athleticism you bring to it the better off you are. You need to be in an athletic position with your knees bent or flexed to get the most out of your swing. The transference of weight from one side to the other is most easily accomplished when your weight is transferred from your right side to your left side.
