The first Disney resort was established in 1955 in Anaheim, California. Since that time, not only has the Disneyland Resort grown, but other Disney resorts have been added in places like Orlando, Paris and Tokyo. These resorts feature amusement parks, hotels, restaurants, access to golf courses, theaters and many other attractions.
Disneyland
The Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, was the brainchild of Walt Disney. The park started out as a fun destination, but has since grown into the "happiest place on Earth." In addition to the Magic Kingdom, the Disneyland Resort now includes the California Adventure Park. Likewise, there are now hundreds of hotel rooms available inside of Disneyland at the resort's three hotels. In 2008, approximately 15 million people visited this resort, making it the second-most visited Disney resort. The resort features thrill rides such as the Tower of Terror and Space Mountain as well as rides for younger guests, such as Dumbo and Alice in Wonderland. There are no golf courses inside this Disney resort. The Coyote Hills Golf Course is only seven miles away.

Disney World
After Disneyland became a huge success, the Walt Disney Company decided to build Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. This park opened in 1971. It has dwarfed the original Disneyland in terms of the number of parks, rides, hotels, golf courses and land mass. The Walt Disney World Resort features four theme parks--the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom. This resort also features more than 20 hotels and five different golf courses. It is the most-visited Disney resort with more than 17 million visitors in 2008.

Tokyo Disneyland
Tokyo Disneyland was the first Disney resort to open outside of the United States when it welcomed its first guests in 1983. Although the growth of the original Disneyland and of Walt Disney World were rapid, Tokyo Disney saw more of a gradual growth. The Tokyo Disney Resort features four hotels. The Monsters Inc. ride as well as the BraviSEAmo! show are popular attractions. There is no golf course within Tokyo Disneyland, but there are several courses in the city of Tokyo.

Disneyland Paris
When Disneyland Paris first opened its doors in 1992, it was known as Euro Disney. This resort had a rocky start when a European recession hit the same year the resort opened. In order to distance itself from the poor perception of Euro Disney, the Walt Disney Company changed the resort's name to Disneyland Paris in 1995. Now, the park is experiencing success. A couple of the park's main attractions include Space Mountain: Mission 2 and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith. Disneyland Paris also features three nine-hole golf courses.
