Pebble Beach in central California is one of the most frequented golf destinations in the country. Aside from hosting numerous PGA Tour events, the area offers many golf academies and pro shops, as well as dozens of golf courses not used for PGA Tour purposes. But if you're going to Pebble Beach, you probably already have a good idea of what courses are available to you. Restaurants, however, are a different story. California presents tourists with a bevy of choices when it comes to good food, and steakhouses top the list of restaurants visitors need to try when planning their vacation.
Whaling Station Monterey
Pacific Grove, like most Pebble Beach area courses, is right on the water
Located right on Monterey Bay is Whaling Station Prime Steaks. Run by chef John Pisto of television's "Monterey's Cookin' Pisto Style," Whaling Station offers up a selection of USDA prime beef and fresh seafood. There's an extensive selection of wines from local vineyards, and the restaurant is also family friendly, offering a children's menu for the little ones.
The steakhouse is also conveniently located just a few blocks east from the Pacific Grove Municipal Golf Links, a short 18-hole golf course with par-4s that go less than 300 yards. If you find yourself near this course, Whaling Station would be a convenient option for dining.

Kurt Carmel's Chop House
Kurt Grasing offers up not only steaks, but dozens of wine options at the Chop House
In south Pebble Beach is Kurt Carmel's Chop House. The Chop House is run by head chef Kurt Grasing, who created the menu and runs the day-to-day operations. Each dinner is paired with a specific wine to bring out the best flavor in the different cuts and options of meats. As far as steak choices go, the Chop House offers lamb chops, bone-in rib eye, Gionfriddo cut veal chops and brined pork chops. Also available are vegetarian and nonvegetarian soups and salads.
Nearby is the Peter Hay Golf Course in the Del Monte Forest. There's a driving range as well as professional golfers available to help you with everything from the swing of your driver to the chip of your putter.
