Fun Things to Do With Kids in Chicago, Illinois
Since you can't take the kids to the golf course, chances are you'll join the family for a kid-friendly outing at some point. While Chicago has many golf courses to please players (like the Columbus Park Golf Course and Ridge Country Club), it also has a number of children's attractions that will entertain the whole family.

Chicago Children's Theatre

The Chicago Children's Theatre is the perfect destination for kids six and up, who will be sure to enjoy the mix of music, acting and special effects on stage. With productions meant to inspire and arise curiosity and courage in kids, the theater presents both original shows as well as book adaptations. There are usually three productions running at all times, so check for tickets and times to know which one is on while you are there. The theater also runs the Red Kite Project, which helps kids with autism by putting them in the show and helping them participate in the production.

Navy Pier

While this may seem an obvious choice with visiting Chicago, there is more to the Pier than the 15-story Ferris Wheel and the IMAX theater. You can also find here the Chicago's Children's Museum, which allows kids to build, learn about sciences and climb the Treehouse Trails. Older kids will love the virtual ride at the Transporter FX and the mirror Funhouse. The Seadog Ventures, a speedboat ride, leaves the Pier every day during the summer, while the AeroBalloon takes brave families 350 feet up in the air. Rollerblades can be rented for those who want to tour the boardwalk or head inside to the Navy Pier's Winter Wonderland to try the ice rink.
