Water
Water is the best thirst quencher. It is, after all, the fluid that you've been losing while golfing. You should never wait too long to drink water, because at the point you realize you are thirsty, you are already dehydrated.
Sports Drinks
Your body also loses minerals when you sweat. Sports drinks contain not only water, but also the minerals lost during perspiration. Choose from brands that have low sugar content, such as Gatorade or Power Aid, to bring up your electrolytes. Gatorade has been around the longest and its chemical balance will quench your thirst and replenish minerals with the least sugar content. Stay away from so-called sports drinks that are referred to as energy drinks; they have extremely high sugar and caffeine content.
Foods With Fluid
Certain foods can actually quench your thirst and increase your fluid intake: watermelon, strawberries, grapes and oranges. These contain a high fluid content and vitamins. Be careful, however, not to eat too much at once because the sugar or acidity could hurt your stomach.
Drinks to Avoid
Don't drink sugary liquids such as lemonade, Kool-Aid or sweet tea. These liquids are high in sugar and may contain caffeine, which may have a diuretic effect.
