Located in suburban Houston, west of the city center, Katy is well-known for the retail shopping outlet Katy Mills and as a bedroom community for Houston. The town offers easy access to golf, including eight courses right in the town of Katy. Among the more well-known courses in the Houston area are TPC at the Woodlands in Humble and the Redstone Country Club, home to the PGA Tour's Shell Houston Open. Both are north of Houston, less than an hour's drive from Katy.
