Weather
With the Las Vegas Valley receiving more than 300 days of sunshine a year, golfers visiting the Valley rarely have to worry about rainouts. As far as temperatures, golfers have their choice of season. Those golfers looking to escape harsh winters can visit in December and January when the average high is 58 degrees F. Golfers that can stand the heat and possibly don't mind playing early in the morning or late in the afternoon can visit in the summer when temperatures reach the triple digits. Generally, the mildest weather for golf occurs in March, April, October and November with averages highs of 69 degrees F, 78 degrees F, 82 degrees F and 67 degrees F.
Golf on the Strip
Golfers searching for golf on the Strip can choose between the Wynn Las Vegas golf club and the Bali Hai Golf Club. Designed by Tom Fazio and Steve Wynn, the 7,042-yard, par-70 course at the Wynn features a 37-foot tall waterfall, elevation changes and more than 6,000 trees and 100,000 shrubs. The 7,002-yard, par-71 Bali Hai, designed by Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley, has more than 100,000 tropical plants growing on the course and features a par-three island green on the sixteenth hole.

Off-Strip Golf Courses
While most golf courses in the Las Vegas Valley are off the Strip, many of them are a short drive or cab ride from the Strip. The 6,572-yard, par-71 Las Vegas National Golf Club, the course where Tiger Woods earned his first PGA tour win, is a short five iron away from the Strip. Golfers staying on the Strip are only a 20-minute drive away from the Rio Secco Golf Club, where Butch Harmon has a teaching facility, in Henderson, Nevada. Even the TPC Las Vegas is only 20 minutes from the Strip.

Something Different
While many golf courses in the Las Vegas Valley feature desert scenery, the Valley is also home to some unusual golf courses. The Royal Links Golf Club patterns its 18 holes after holes from the 11 British Open Courses. Golfers who want to sample some of the best golf holes in the world but only want to play a short game should play the Cloud Nine Course at Angel Park Golf Club as its 12 short holes replicate some of the more famous golf holes in the world. To see a course with some true Vegas style, golfers need to visit the Legacy Golf Club where the tee boxes on the tenth hole are a diamond, a heart, a club and a spade--the playing card suits.
