Things to Do on Vacation in Hawaii

Things to Do on Vacation in Hawaii
Island-hopping in Hawaii is a great way to see a variety of beaches, mountains, forests, landmarks, tourist destinations and, of course, golf courses. All of the main islands have their share of beautiful courses--some public, others semi-private and affiliated with a resort.

The Big Island

If your Hawaiian vacation takes you to the Big Island of Hawaii, you have a few great golf options. There are the rolling hills of the Hapuna Golf Course, which is part of the luxurious Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel property and includes an outstanding program of clinics and other training opportunities. There's also the Kona Country Club's Alii Mountain Course, with a bird's eye view of the coastline and a back nine that is as challenging as it is breathtaking.

Kauai

Kauai isn't called "The Garden Island" for nothing. This small but lush island is home to nine courses, most of them on the southeast coast. At the opposite end of the island is a fun collection of three 9-hole courses at the Princeville Makai Course. For a more serious golfing experience, try the Poipu Bay Golf Course, which may look familiar as it was home to PGA of America's Grand Slam of Golf every year between 1994 and 2006.

Maui

No golf vacation to Hawaii would be complete without a stop at the legendary Wailea Golf Club and at least one round on either the Emerald, Gold or Blue courses. The Wailea Golf Club Resort has plenty of other world-class amenities, like championship tennis courts, an amazing spa and five crescent beaches.
